Bridging Alzheimer’s community resources in the South Puget Sound
The South Sound Alzheimer’s Council, in partnership with Senior Services for South Sound, was established in 1995. The council was created in response to the growing number of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias in our local community. The council is comprised of compassionate professionals, community volunteers and family members. Our mission is to provide affordable access to education, support and resources within the Thurston County area.
Alzheimer’s Caregiver Conference
The council sponsors an annual one day Alzheimer’s Caregiver Conference featuring national speakers. The purpose of this conference is to provide the community with the latest information on Alzheimer’s and offer a day of support to families. Community agencies and resources are present as well.
South Sound Alzheimer’s Walk
The annual South Sound Alzheimer’s Walk is on Sunday September 17th from 10:00am – 12:30pm and is held at Heritage Park as a walk around Capitol Lake. The walk is the council’s largest fundraiser and monies raised support the complimentary consultation service as well as the annual Alzheimer’s Caregiver Conference.
