What we do
The South Sound Alzheimer’s Council was formed in 1995 in partnership with Senior Services for South Sound. The council was formed in response to the growing number of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia in our local community. The group provides advocacy, education, and support to dedicated family caregivers in Thurston County.
The council sponsors an annual Caregiver Conference to bring together the latest information and resources to help families better cope with this disease. This one day conference features national speakers and local community resource displays.
The council holds an annual fundraiser in the form of a sponsored walk every September. The funds raised at the South Sound Alzheimer’s Walk help finance the conference and free consultation services.
